6 Days Machame Route Tour- Kilimanjaro Climbing Itinerary

The Machame route is considered a difficult route and is more suited to adventurous hikers and those with some hiking or backpacking experience. The Machame Route is scenically beautiful and varied. part of its glory. Approaching the summit from the southwest, the Machame route descends via the Mweka route and rewards climbers with views of the sprawling Shira Plateau, an optional climb to Lava Tower, a climb to the wall of the Great Ravine, and a traverse below southern ice field of Kilimanjaro.

The Machame Route, also known as the Whiskey Route, is one of Kilimanjaro's most popular routes and one of our favorites. The Machame route has the highest success rate to the summit due to the terrain and the nature of the route allowing climbers to "go high and sleep low", making travel more convenient. This route offers some of the most spectacular scenery in the mountains. The Machame route starts on the Southwest slope of the mountain and continues steeply north, crossing the Shira Plateau and finally joining the Shira and Lemosho routes past the Shira cave camp. The Machame route can be done in a minimum of 6 days but a 7-day hike is recommended for climbers to rest and acclimate well before making the final leg up to the summit

You'll be picked up from Kilimanjaro International Airport and transferred to your arranged hotel in Moshi town, where you'll meet your guide who will brief you on your next trip and take you on Check equipment to make sure you have all the necessary climbing gear. An hour's drive from Moshi is the Machame Road Gate, where we completed park formalities, met our team of porters, and started climbing! The first part of the route climbs steadily and passes through beautiful dense rainforest. Our route continues through the forest until we climb steeply to the Shira Plateau, which offers great mountain views. Now walking over the high moors, the landscape changes the whole character of the ride. We crossed to the southwest of Kilimanjaro, passed below the lava tower and the last stretch of the western hole, and finally reached the camp. Our day began with a descent into the Great Barranco, a large ravine. We then exited steeply, climbing the Great Barranco Wall, separating us from the southeastern slopes of Kibo. It was a climb, not technically demanding, but long and tiring. Traversing the Heim and Kersten glaciers, we head to the Karang Valley, our last stop for fresh water before reaching the summit. We started around midnight and hiked up the glaciers at the top. We will climb the curtain in 4-5 hours but will achieve amazing heights in a short distance. The views are spectacular. We will be on the rim of the crater at Stella Point (5739m) when the first rays of the sun hit us. Dramatic cliffs in the crater surround us and the views of Mawenzi's jagged peaks and beyond are breathtaking. Another hour of walking will bring us to the summit, Uhuru Peak (5895m). We started our descent by heading back to Stella Point, then down a screened slope and back to Camp Barafu for breakfast, before finally descending to Camp Mweka for a long rest. • Distance traveled: 4 km / 9.6 miles • Time taken: 13-15 hours • Meals: breakfast and lunch included

A gentle hike takes us through the rainforest to the Mweka Gate, where we complete park formalities and receive a certificate you can be proud of! We were then picked up in our car and returned to the hotel in Moshi where you can treat yourself to a welcome shower and then celebrate with a cold drink.
