Kilimanjaro 9 days machame route

Day 1: Arrival in Moshi.

Arrive in Moshi, Tanzania, and transfer to your hotel. Meet your guide for a pre-climb briefing, equipment check, and a chance to relax before the adventure begins.

Day 2: Moshi to Machame Gate (1,640m) to Machame Camp (2,835m) 

After breakfast, drive to Machame Gate, the starting point of the trek. Hike through the lush rainforest, spotting unique flora and fauna. Reach Machame Camp for an overnight stay.

Day 3: Machame Camp to Shira Camp (3,750m) 

Ascend through the forest and into the heath and moorland zones. Experience changing landscapes as you approach Shira Plateau. Camp at Shira Camp and enjoy breathtaking views of Mount Meru.

Day 4: Shira Camp to Lava Tower (4,630m) to Barranco Camp (3,950m) 

Climb towards Lava Tower for acclimatization, then descend to Barranco Camp. Traverse the Barranco Wall, a challenging but exhilarating climb, before settling in for the night.

Day 5: Barranco Camp to Karanga Camp (3,995m) 

Continue through alpine desert terrain, with spectacular views of the Southern Icefield. Arrive at Karanga Camp, nestled in a valley beneath the imposing glaciers of the Western Breach.

Day 6: Karanga Camp to Barafu Camp (4,673m) 

Trek to Barafu Camp, the base for the final ascent. Marvel at the stunning sunset over Mawenzi Peak. Rest and prepare for the summit bid.

Day 7: Barafu Camp to Uhuru Peak (5,895m) to Mweka Camp (3,100m)

 Start the summit attempt at midnight, reaching the Uhuru Peak in time for a spectacular sunrise. Descend to Mweka Camp for a well-deserved rest.

Day 8: Mweka Camp to Mweka Gate (1,640m) 

Descend through the rainforest, celebrating your achievement. Arrive at Mweka Gate, where you receive your summit certificates. Transfer back to Moshi for a comfortable night's rest.

Day 9: Departure 

After breakfast, bid farewell to Tanzania or extend your stay to explore more of this beautiful country. Reflect on the incredible journey and the accomplishment of conquering Mount Kilimanjaro's Machame Route.
